Just because you’re onboard a cruise doesn’t mean you need to sit back and resign yourself to eating whatever you’re served. Carnival Cruises announced that its newest ship, debuting next month, will feature a space for cooking classes onboard.
The Carnival Panorama will feature the new Carnival Kitchen where passengers can take lessons from the ship’s culinary crew in everything from pasta to dessert — a welcome activity for people who can’t stop watching “The Great British Bake Off” but have no idea how to cook.
When guests walk into the Carnival Kitchen, they’ll take their place at one of nine marbled-granite cooking and prep stations. Each is set up with its own sink, refrigerator, stovetop and cooking supplies.
The kitchen will host 15 classes taught by the ship’s chefs. Guests can learn how to prepare sushi, pizza or some of most-loved items on Carnival menus. And guests who book an evening class will afterwards sit in an adjacent dining room and enjoy the fruits of their labor.
The classes will accommodate up to 18 guests at a time.
“We’re committed to providing our guests with memorable onboard experiences, and now, they’ll have the opportunity to explore the art of cooking alongside our culinary team in a fun, informative and interactive atmosphere,” Cyrus Marfatia, Carnival’s vice president of culinary and dining, told Cruise Industry News. “We’ve created a diverse selection of experiences that cater to every type of palate, so whether our guests want to learn how to master their favorite foods or want to try something new, Carnival Kitchen has it all.”
The classes are not included in the price of the cruise and each session (either one or two hours) ranges from $30 to $59. The classes can be reserved pre-cruise or once onboard.
It will set sail from December 11, with itineraries around the Mexican Riviera.
